2008? Really? ...
2008? Really? This video is absolutely inconsequential. The vehicle was not anywhere near done.? It is now, it's a powerhouse and this propaganda serves no purpose other that to attempt to sway public opinion negatively against a remarkable vehicle made by an American company. Pushing 700 miles with my Volt have used 1.1 gallon of gas. This video it s**tte!

That was before it ...
That was before it was tested on Pike's Peak! Can go 101MPH, on electricity. I'm coming up on 6K miles on mine, still have not burned even 2 gallons of gas. Using night time rates my electricity costs have been around $155 for those miles, plus a fiver for gas. Even at 60MPG a Prios needs 100 gallons to go that? far...

Note that this was ...
Note that this was about 3 years before the car went to production. Also, the Ampera (European version? of the Volt) is selling like hotcakes...

...
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Wish the govt would stop shoving tech that is not ready down our throats. Give it 10 years, fine. But now, not? so much. Fail is right.

Volt is awesome. ...
Volt is awesome. Have fun with your F350, ? I'll wave to you as I drive by when you are filling it up.

the? volt was ...
the? volt was suspended due to lack of sales.its too expensive............

untile you run out ...
untile you run out of battery because its not 24/7 300 mile technology ide rather own a car thats? ran on only controlled explosions with enigine and trans because when something goes bad ide rather pay 2-3,000$ to fix it rather than 5-6-7,000 to fix it and with less complacation

iem not to big on ...
iem not to big on the volt everything about the? car is complacted and expensive the drivetrain and this is going to be a car macanicks nightmear

the volt is? ...
the volt is? already being cancelled a*****e

Another Fire trap ...
Another Fire trap from GM Electric cars don't burn gas ! ?

the volt is dead.?
the volt is dead.?

Well, don't you ...
Well, don't you people think that this was a pre-production prototype Volt??....or that maybe they forgot to re-charge the battery before the test??....just because the car ran out of juice on this test doesn't mean the car is a failure or that it's unreliable!....bulls**t!...far from? it!...these cars are exported all over the world, and last year's model run of 2011, first year for the Volt, GM sold almost 10,000 units!...and this model year 2012 will be even better!..not bad for a first year!

A gas powered ...
A gas powered generator! What a? chunk of junk! At least the Nissan leaf is all ELECTRIC!

The Volt is sham, ...
The Volt is sham, as many know. GM sold out the electric vehicle industry and shut it down by taking Ovionic's patent and selling it to Chevron. It essentially forced all automakers to shut down their electric car programs, as they were not allowed to use the large format NiMH batteries any longer. GM could have done much better. The Volt will not compete with all electric once the next leap in technology happens. GM is not trusted at all by the electric? industry.

The volt is an ...
The volt is an electric car, like the leaf. The volt just has the fore site to cure range anxiety. If your at work and the school calls to tell you that your son or daughter just broke their arm and you need to get to the hospital across town you better hope you remembered to charge your leaf. Because if you didn't when you run out of electric power your done. ? With the volt the gas powered generator will keep the battery charged enough to get there.

OH...and why was ...
OH...and why was everyone muzzled when Chevron (after being sold the patents by GM) disallowed anyone to use larger versions of? the NiMH battery? Basically, they brought all production of any electric vehicle to a halt, and put a muzzle on all parties involved in the court case. Again....a VERY significant fact that seem to have left out....that had a MAJOR impact on the development of the industry. It set the industry back for many years....and continues to do so.

The one thing I ...
The one thing I agree with you about ...is that it did not make sense for Toyota to continue it's production of the initial RAV-4 electric. Yes, it was a program they? were forced to introduce due to the California Clean Air Act. BUT...they did not sabotage the industry, as GM did. AND, they also had the intelligence to allow their vehicles to continue to be used.....which has allowed further advances in technology and adaptation.

Bizarre for you to ...
Bizarre for you to state that "NO electric or hyrbrid? makes financial sense right now", when Toyota has sold over 3 million of the Prius, and is about to start manufacturing the RAV-4 all-electric in Canada. That is a statement right out of a GM / Chevron propaganda film or something.....LOL. It is one of the largest successes of Toyota these days. The Prius is an incredibly common vehicle...often used by cab drivers....because they make so much financial sense....LOL

Oh..and the reason ...
Oh..and the reason the Volt is not compared with the Prius is because the Prius is wallopping all competition, with millions in sales to date. There is no other hybrid to be compared with it. I see them constantly....and I really don't see any other type of hybrid / electric vehicle on any consistent basis. There is currently great success with hybrid? production these days...and an all-electric Toyota is just around the corner. The major NA makers are just flailing.

Another important ...
Another important fact....Toyota only destroyed a portion of their RAV-4 electrics...and then decided to let owners continue to use them. They have been driven by their owners ever since, and serviced by various Toyota sercice centres. There are many clear facts that separate the actions of GM from other manufacturers. No surprise that GM was? a focus in the documentary.... I will be interesting to see what happens to the Volt when it faces REAL competition.

Hey, why don't you ...
Hey, why don't you compare with the plug-in hybrid produced in China? ? There will be some plug-in hybrids coming out in North America in the next year also. The Prius has had a kit available for several years now also...to do a switch to plug-in.

The reason that ...
The reason that Toyota stopped production directly related to the inability to use the battery any longer. They were forced into a settlement with Chevron /Texaco. This is a clear and unequivocal fact. Toyota is now working with Tesla in regard to it's new version of the RAV-4 electric/plug-in. You seem to? be missing some very important facts.....propaganda????

How about the fact ...
How about the fact that GM was able to buy out the most advanced patents on batteries in the US...and then sold them to Texaco / Chevron. This is now a significant problem for Toyota in it's effort to bring out the new RAV-4 electric. Try that one on for size. Part of that story was actually told in the documentary we are discussing....and it still continues to? this day,

You keep saying the ...
You keep saying the Volt is comparable to the Leaf. It is NOT. It is a plug-in hybrid. The Leaf is an all-electric. If you speak of propaganda, then this comparison is exactly that. It is? an effort to turn the public's head to make a comparison that is not valid at all.

The prius? what is ...
The prius? what is electric only range of the Prius? Tesla, Fisker are all very expensive niche market vehicles, so their ranges are better. The volt is the first effort in recent years to deliver an affordable electric car. The leaf and the new mitsubishi too. You are complaining about the price. Can you not see that this was exactly the same situation with the EV1? The? fact is NO electric or hybrid makes financial sense right now, including the Prius.

GM and might I add ...
GM and might I add everyone else including Toyota lobbied to repeal the California law because nobody wanted to engage in an electric car program. They? knew that to have a usable range, they would never be able to get the battery cost down enough to make economic sense for a person to buy it, or for the company to not lose money. This is still a problem even today, a decade later. GM and Toyota didn't want to use their resources on something they believed would not take off.

Propaganda is not ...
Propaganda is not outright lies, its careful choice of information presented in a way to spin the truth. I said it's interesting to watch.. But? if it was truly an investigative effort to cast a well rounded light on the issue, the information I mentioned before would have been included. The RAV1 is important because it was a similar effort by a competitor. So if it's really true that the demand for an expensive impractical electric car was there, why did Toyota cancel it too?

Nice bunch of crap ...
Nice bunch of crap you just wrote.... I asked you to be specific about the half-truth or outright propaganda, as you first stated. What was said that clearly wasn't? true?? Are you supposed to interview everyone in the world?? and why?? The documentary was about the EV-1...and the surrounding industries...and the events as they unfolded. The documentary had a lot of depth. I think you are more interested in some kind of survey, rather than a documentary...LOL.

And about GM 's ...
And about GM 's sabotage.....tell me why you would take all those cars away from people who were willing to buy them, and were making monthly lease payments?????, which were certainly not hurting GM's bottom? line...LOL. I say laughingly....who was behind GM throwing away money like that???? The ball's in your court...LOL. You have to be incredibly naive to not have understood the politics in the overturning of the California legislation and the trashing of the EV-1.

Also, you are not ...
Also, you are not comparing apples with apples if you compare the Leaf to the Volt. Compare it to the Prius, if anything, or any plug-in hybrid...because that's what it is. If you compare to the Leaf, then let's compare with Tesla models, and see how outclassed the Volt is... Again, as many keep stating, the? Volt is not worth the cash you pay. There are too many better options for the money. It's a loser...period!
